This is the best and easiest method to cook my beef meatballs. There is no mess and once you have your little parcels of goodness all wrapped up you literally sit back and wait for the oven to do all the work. Even better if you have pre made your meatballs then this is handsdown one meal that will become your favourite weeknight dinner!
I’ve posted a step by step easy to follow picture format so if you get lost or I’m not making sense just refer to these images. Please note this method is for 4-8 meatballs at a time. If cooking more just make more parcels but only cook maximum of 8 per bag.
Step 1) grab a square piece of foil approx 30cmx30cm (slightly bigger for 8 meatballs) and lay flat on your bench
Step 2) grab a piece of baking paper (same size as foil) and lay over the foil
Step 3) spoon 3 heaped tablespoons (double if you are cooking 8 meatballs) of your favourite pasta sauce in the centre of the square, be generous with the sauce
Step 4) place your meatballs on the sauce
Step 5) cover your meatballs with more sauce, again being generous
Step 6) wrapping your meatballs – this sounds tricker than it is so refer to images- to do this grab the corners of the baking paper only and bring together and hold the tips only with one hand. With the other hand grab the baking paper firmly together just over the meatballs and hold into place letting go of the tips you were holding with the other hand. Now with your free hand pull, the foil up and around where you are holding the baking paper firmly and squeeze the foil tightly to hold the baking paper in place while removing you hand that was holding the baking paper into place. You should be left with something that represents a giant foil money bag. Next fold the foiltips down and over to secure and place your foil parcel on a baking tray.
Step 7) bake in a preheated oven 200 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour
Step 8) carefully open the foil (watch out its hot and steam will escape so be careful) serve over pasta or on their own! Delicious.
handy tip – if you like your sauce you may like to have extra on stand by to serve over your meatballs depending on your taste
Thank you so much for a recipe that is so easy and so delicious! We had this for dinner tonight, if was loved by all ages! Cooking the meatballs in the parcel was so clever. The meatballs were full of flavour! Will definitely be making these again & making lots of extras next time to freeze! We can’t wait to try many more of your creations.
